Mix of the Decade: Front Bumbaclot
As the 00 decade winds down, I thought I'd share my most favorite mix I made in the decade. In 2005, I completed my Front Bumbaclot Mixtape, a dancehall oriented mashup mix before the days of Ableton & Serato (actually recorded in pro tools and final scratch 1). I was back in Boston finishing up my final semester in college after taking a year and half off from school "co-opin'"with MystiQuintet. While writing my last set of papers, I literally went through my entire vinyl collection and recorded my favorite riffs, acapellas, and movie quotes and threw them into one huge pot of gold! 114 continuous remixes in a 74 minute mix! Technically prolly still my most meticulous recording project to date...This was originally posted on my myspace account, when myspace first came out, but has since been lost due to file sharing deletions..most of my friends reading this prolly have a copy of it somewhere, but in case you lost it, here it is again with the full tracklisting! Happy Twenty-Tens Everyone! I guarantee Front Bumbabclot 2 will be made at somepoint this decade, although not yet sure if it's gonna be a sequel or a prequel yet..haha!

Ho Down Throwdown!
Over the weekend, Shades of Grey stopped thru Laura's hometown of Nashville, Tennesse to perform for her niece Malia's birthday. She invited her entire 5th grade class, and it was an afternoon full of line dancin', pie throwin', and backflippin' with no shoes on concrete.. These kids can move y'all, check it the southern fun!

Chairlift- Bruises (Shades of Grey Remix)
Sure by now you've all heard the Chairlift song Bruises on an ipod commercial. Prolly one of the most catchiest tunes of the year...well Laura happened to attend high school with one of the dudes in the group Patrick and was able to cop an acapella of the track and remix it...assisting on the track is one of my ol' MystiQuintet violinists Cody Geil..a bit more uptempo new wavier than the original, but still maintains the overall skeletons of the tune!

The Rocky Fellers- Look at Killer Joe Go!
So when hangin' out with my dad the other day I showed this youtube link that my boy JR posted of a 60's Filipino twee group called The Rocky Fellers. They were known for their mega Billboard hit Killer Joe, and my dad was like "oy! i tink i hab dat byenal in di garaje!" So low and behold, after diggin' through a stack of his tagalog record collection, i found their entire 33 track masterpiece on wax! If you are fan of fun music reminiscent of a Frankie Lymon/ Jackson 5/ Foster Sylver/ 3 Stars, then cop this badboy...it may take 30 minutes or so to download cause it's a pretty huge ZIP of shit. But the juice is worth the squeeze my friend!
